I did review a bunch of information about this topic on the boards. I did not see what I was looking for so this is why you are reading this.
I know on my car you can hook a computer up into the engine bay(not the cars cockpit) and get the actual mileage of the vehicle. Despite what the odometer reading is in the cockpit of vehicles.
Does this sort of verification work on Excursions?
If not, Is their away to electronically verify if someone is truly being a pick?
I've never heard of confirming mileage that way.
At the auctions here, many of the "total loss" vehicles don't have their mileage confirmed. I'm sure if there was another way, MPIC (our insurance), would confirm the mileage before auctioning off the vehicles. Many of them get rebuild and put back on the road. Big problem with some guys rolling back the odometer here.
