I just replaced the heater core on my 99 f150 with the 5.4 and I bought some new quick connects from napa that you hook to the heater hose and use a hose clamp. Do the new quick connects just push on to the heater core nipple? I was told the spacers and o rings should already be installed in the quick connect piece although I dont see any.
I wouldn't bother with a quick release its just o be more place for a leak to happen and heater cores are never fun to replace. Plus ull probably never have to replace that heater core ever again
Each one should have (2) O-rings with a little spacer between them. Otherwise there is nothing to lock it on. IIRC the O-rings and the spacers stayed on the heater core ...not inside the connector that was hooked to the heater hoses. Not totally sure what you are doing here.
I replaced the heater core but had to cut the metal lines at the heater core because I coudnt get the quick connects off. I got the new heater core in and bought the new quick connect ends from napa. I asked napa if the little o rings were in there and they said they should be. I didnt see any in the package. I seen a video on youtube where the guy took the quick connect apart and put the white part on the heater core nipple with the orings and spacers. What im asking is cant I just leave the quick connect all together and just push it on the heater core lines?
If the quick-connect has all of its guts, you should just be able to push it on without disassembling it. I don't remember doing anything odd with them.
When I replaced all of my hoses, I was able to get one hose with integral Q-Cs from Rockauto, the other one I got from my favorite online Ford dealer, as Rockauto didn't have it. I did not want another set of connections by using hoses with separate Q-C adapters. To each his own.
Call NAPA and have them confirm that the O-rings are integral in the connector....not loose in the package. I would think it's ready to go right out of the box. So it's a connector that snaps onto the heater core and the other end is a nipple that just raw heater hose and band clamps are used?
