The wife's expo is stalling out at different times, you don't know when its going to stall.and right before it stalls,it feels/sounds like its starving of fuel.it will start right back up and go down the road great.she pulled into garage told guy symptoms and he said tps.does this sound correct?thanks all
It stalls in at red lights.last week I drove daughter to bus stop put in park with it running and stalled.I immediately turned key off then started right up.but the wife says it stalls at lights in drive so she puts in neutral and gives little gas so it wontbstall
The IAC controls idle speed, once you press the gas pedal the IAC is disabled. So since you're issue is strictly at idle, this part is the place to start. The TPS will give you problems when driving, not at idle.
Ok guys I cleaned the iav?valve.while I was in there I looked into tb behind the butterfly flap and its just caked with carbon/oily stuff.manual says don't clean it out,but this doesn't seem right.I don't know how to upload pics so if someone out there could tex/call me is be happy to send them to you or put on here.thanks all.damion 903-830-2422
I took the elbow and everything off mine to clean it. Don't really want that crap going down into the engine. Use throttle body cleaner on the tb; not carb cleaner. Doesn't matter what you use on the elbow. I threw mine in the parts washer and let it soak for a day or 2. When I bought my expy it had so much crap caked on the butterflies that the gas pedal was sticking. If you take everything off at once you can clean the iac passages and egr also. Get some new gaskets ahead of time for everything.
Ok ill do that.you said elbow, what elbow.?oh another thing is in plastic air tube, directly under clamp(where it ataches to tb)there was small amount of oil.what would cause that?I could send pics to someone's phone if need be.thanks for your reply
The elbow that goes from the throttle body to the intake. It's what the throttle body is bolted to. As for the oil- do you happen to have a k&n or similar air filter?
No its stock paper filter.as for the stalling at lights I read the link above, did the cleaning and still stalls out.so maybe a new iav?valve or perhaps this oil has something to do with it?
How bad was the IAC when you cleaned it? Are you getting any codes? I can't think of anywhere oil would come from up there. Did you look inside the airbox?
The iac wasn't terrible, but I used a whole can of carb clean on it.I can't pull codes but I'm going to bounce to auto zone and have them pull them,if any ate present.ill look in airbox, never thought of that
