Just so we're all on the same page from the start.... both came with the 6.0L and the 5R110W automatic transmission or ZF6 manual transmission, in trucks sold in North America correct?

If yes, assuming the transmission is the same, it'll should drop in. If you're moving it from a manual to an auto truck or vice versa, you can move the long block assembly and accessories, but not all the electronic modules. IIRC the PCM is different between auto and manual trucks.

How did it die? Maybe we can help you figure out what's salvageable on the old engine.

Why did it die? We need details, a death in the 6.0 is a tragic event for all of us

Low oil pressure came up on the moniter thing. It was shooting up lots out lots of black smoke on every startup eventually it would clear and run good then It would drive for a little bit then shut off and not work till the next day then eventually it just died and took it to the mech cause i couldnt bare to let her go but he just said nothing he could do engine fried. Bad deal cause i recently replaced the high pressure oil pump like 3 months prior.

How well does your mechanic know 6.0L's?

Are you willing to invest a hundred dollars or so to do some investigating on your 06?

Quite frankly, there isn't enough information to actually condemn it yet (IMO anyway).

It is not common for low oil pressure to fry an engine since "low" high pressure oil pressure will prevent starting - usually before damage is done.

Listen to these guys, many of them know their stuff. It sounds like your mechanic is looking for a big payday!

That's a great point mark, I would assume FICM , batteries,ICP and connections LPOP if not enough oil pressure, and 100 bucks to a real 6.0l Mechanic is money well spent

You should consider buying a scangaugeII and doing some tests yourself then. We can help ........... There is a recent post on scangaugeII for a little over $100 at Advance Auto w/ a promo code.
