pretty easy (at least with 4cyl). you use a 3/8 ( if i remember right) ratchet and extension which fits into square hole on tensioner to release tension and remove /install belt. a little easier if you have a helper to guide new belt in place while you release tension on tensioner when reinstalling.
It'll take more time to get things together & the hood open, than to change the belt, so its a good thing to do in beginning to learn to turn your own wrenches, save $$$$ while doing it & feel great when you've successfully completed the task.
Here are some more thoughts you may find helpful in installing the new belt. Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - View Single Post - serpentine/driv belt wear
Before leaving the store with the belt, look on the belt to make sure the one in the package is the right part number one for your engine (that the belt hasn't been swapped into the wrong package)!!!!
Make sure the pulleys are clean, smooth, & dry, so you don't contaminate the new belt. Then after installation, check the tensioner molded in range marks, to make sure the belt tension is within range. If it isn't, the belt is either too long. or too short, maybe the wrong part number!!!!
I store my old belt under seat, just in case the new one breaks, I have a backup that can get me home.
