I am wondering if anyone has installed a late 90's 351W from a F150 in a 54. I am currently running a tired 1974 351W with a C6 and a 9" rear end with 3:00 gears. I would like to keep the C6 but am open for suggestions. I am looking for input on level of difficulty and hidden problems. Thanks for the input.
There are lots of crate motors available that would be an almost direct bolt in swap. Surf Roush, JEGS, Summit and Ford Motorsport. There would only be slight differences like the oil dipstick goes into the side of the pan instead of the front cover/water pump area.
My 56 has a crate motor, C-6 and 9" with 3.50 gear. What part of MN are you located in?
That engine is EFI. If you can get the trans with the engine, take the computer and complete wiring harness. I will be running a 5L Aod from an 88 Lincoln in my 56. It just makes the truck serviceable on the road. I'm a licenced auto tech by trade, and find the newer brand of tech's are not familiar with the carb systems. Good luck.
I kinda thought we've already been over this, and determined the 351 for 351 would be a direct swap? I realize the thread took a bit of a left turn with all kinds of crazy advice, but the basics were there...
