Two questions auto gear linkage and what gearbox
Hi any idea how i get the gear linkage off the bottom of the steering colume.Its pushed in hard i have googled and i can see there a special tool needed.But i dont have one.Its on a 1989 ford E150 auto.Also will my gearbox be a c4 or a c6 how do i check.Thanks

Again, not the expert but first to the party 
IIRC the C4 has a separable bell housing, the C6 does not. Also, the C4 has 11 bolts around the relatively square pan while the C6 has 17 bolts around a 'fat L' shaped pan.
