Act as it is overheating but it is not 2001 Navigator

2001 Navigator

Every now and then while driving my temp gauge will shoot to the top as if it is overheating, the oil light will come on and the AC will start to blow warm.

I can pull over, shut everything down, restart (within sec of killing the motor) and all will be OK temp and oil will be in mid range and the AC will blow cold again.

I have checked the oil and water just to be sure

What is going on?

Sounds like the PCM is starting to go out on you.

Could be the thermostats going bad or just a air pocket in the cooling system....

That wouldn't explain the oil light coming on or the AC starting to blow warm.

Sounds like a sensor going bad. When the temp sensor in the cylinder head pegs, it tells the PCM to shut down the AC compressor and it triggers the red engine light and check engine lights on the dash. It will also begin the "air pump" safety mode, where it cuts the fuel and ignition on one bank at a time to try to keep the engine from damage.

The Cylinder Head Temp sensor should be in the passenger side head, near the valley.
