Hey guys, just curious if anyone has used an aftermarket wiring harness in their slick? I'd like to clean up my wiring and I see that flashback carries a couple harnesses but I know nothing about their details. Also painless doesn't make one for a f100 below 67 and they're typically the authority on this very subject.
I'd like to get as complete as possible as to not have all one color wires behind my dash.
I have three new harnesses in my truck from NPD. The gauge/alternator feed, headlight feed and tail light feed. Straight plug in 5 years ago and a perfect match.
Check out Golden Rodtronics | Home they have a great rep, and a few fellow Slick owners have used their set ups.....Everything is labeled and ready to go, it will surely clean up your wiring, and you can get set ups with extra circuits for power add on's later on.
Unfortunately have not found reproduction dash harness, if your's not spindled and/or mutilated they are not too difficult to repairs or add a couple circuits. Found much easier to work with if I used plastic ties to keep the dash harness trucks separated and then make repairs to each trunk as needed, then used non adhesive harness wrap. If intend adding several circuits then aftermarket possibly the better choice? Purchased a set for the 65 and very pleased with the quality, same wire color codes, and connectors, matter of unplugging old and plug in the new. Believe the same harness supplier for Mr. M. also supplies the other Ford part suppliers.
Posting pic of an old price list from several yrs. ago, not sure if they are still in business but at least may be able to get some indication and compare with aftermarket. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n.../Scan10003.jpg
Copy of Alt. harness as an example only, I only purchased the tail, headlight, alt., and gauge harness, the others are pretty much single wire circuits and the wire can be purchased any auto parts, or hardware store.
I installed an EZ wire harness last summer and im pretty happy with it. Plenty of extra circuits and everything was very clearly labeled. The only complaint I had is that my install instructions seemed to be missing a page or two but i found a complete PDF online.
thanks a lot for the help guys. im great at doing all of my own work, its the finding parts online i struggle with. but this forum has been fantastic. i'll be sure to keep everybody updated with what i buy and how it works. at least now i have a start to my search.

Was going to suggest picking up a Wiring manual which cost $7 if purchased from the company that reproduces them; Jim Osborn Reproduction but may not be of any held with an aftermarket kit, perhaps Dave can answer that???
Having a copy of the factory diagram is definitely helpful especially for the dash. Also a voltmeter that can be an ohm meter is a must for figuring out contacts on different switches and such. I swapped over to a 1 wire alternator so i didnt have to worry about adapting the existing alternator or generator wiring to the EZ harness.
If you go with EZ wiring's kit they dont include any provisions for a firewall disconnect like the factory harness did but i found a 22-pin Weatherpak connector style bulkhead connector that worked pretty well, still need to weld up the old openings in the firewall.
I can post links to the connector if anyone wants to see it.
Does anyone know about replacing wiring for the tail section of a f250 1977. or where you can a replacement wiring harness for that section?
Not familiar with the 77 taillight circuit or the type of connectors? Suggest posting question in the 73-79 forum and fairly certain member will be able to advise?
