well I am still undecided what I am going to do and am asking for suggestions. My 99 Expedition (4.6L) has low compression in at least 2 cylinders. I am debating whether to just yank the heads and swap them out with some remanufactured/rebuit ones or do I replace the entire engine with a remanufactured long block? It has 158K on the original engine. I have no idea if it has the power improved heads on it or not that came out in 1999. All I know is it was manufactured at the windsor plant and the engine code on the valve cover sticker is 9G938BA. I have not been able to locate the casting numbers on the heads to verify. If it does not have the power improved heads would it be possible to swap it with an engine that does or replacing the heads with the PI ones? The spark plugs have all looked normal and don't show any signs of oil consumption. This is why I am wrestling with heads vs entire engine. But the other side of my brain says, its 14 years old and has almost 160K miles on it so replace the entire motor if you want it to last. The body, paint and interior are in excellent shape. What would you all do if you were in my dilemma?

If the 2 cylinders are next to each other then it's probably just a head gasket. That being the case, I would just replace the head gasket and save the rest of the money for a rainy day.
