I have a 2012 f250 diesel and I just installed a ready lift 3.5 lift kit with 20" rims and 35" nitto trail grapplers. This really made my truck ride pretty stiff. Way more stiff than stock. I want the stock feel of the suspension back. Any ideas of shocks that would soften the ride? The lift kit still uses the stock shocks
Try lowering the tire pressure. I just lifted also with those same tires. Stock shocks are pretty soft, so any aftermarket would typically be stiffer and offer more control. However, as mentioned in prior posts, you could try the Ranch 9000s which are adjustable.
I would guess that you are topping the shock out and that is what is making your ride harsh. When I did a 2.5" leveling kit on my 06 which is basically the same suspension as the front of the current models, the factory shocks were not even long enough to use without extending them. 3.5" is way too much for the stock shocks.
I would recommend Bilstein 5100 or the Rancho 9000. If you have the spare coin and can afford it, go with a good remote reservoir shock such as Bilstein or King.
I had to drop my 9000's 2 settings to get my factory ride back. The Toyo's stiffened up the ride significantly. I'm running the same psi as before (65 all around).
