LATCH for FAIRLANE glass front end ?

I have been looking for a lever locking latch that would take up tention and hold the hood down and back to the firewall on my 54F100. I looked at 1975 BMW 2002 and 325 i and I did not think that they would work. What are my options? I am opening the one piece (manualy) with two assist pistons. Thanks in advance.Jim VA.

Jim...

I'm looking for a caddy trunk latch or a camaro rear deck latch... the kind that grabs the trunk lid and pulls down slowly... unfortunately they are hard to find in Al. yards... my man tells me they are the first thing to go on cars... must be a replacement problem and high dealer replacement cost...

but if you're lucky and find some it might be the way to go... and if you find some let me know !!

John, thanks for your reply.I took your sugestion from your web site and looked again for a proper latch.ie.camaro. the weather was sunny so I went again to the junk yard.after hours of looking I wound up with a 93 camaro rear hatch latch.not the screw down one but the remote release with a cable and 12 volts..the yard wanted 35$ for the two pieces so I went to the local GM dealer and ordered all the pieces for 49$ new.as you know I am going manual tilt and think this latch will work OK. I will let you know Jim VA.

Well it's kinda late now but I used a latch from a honda accord. It's cable operated. Mounted the release right under the dash and the latch works great. I have a 53 with a steel tilt nose.

Paul G; I live on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay,just south of the Potomac River . John; No I do not have photos of the latch yet I have not picked up from the GM dealer yet. when I get it installed I will send them . I will try and send photos of the tongue and groove joint for the lower part of the front fender which I made instead of alignment pins to keep the whole font from flopping at the joint which I had to cut. regards Jim VA.
