I painted the senser on the dash black on the inside so the headlights stay on all the time.
My question is the dash lights dont stay on all the time, I assumed they would with the headlights on and senser cover painted, drives me nuts with the dash lights comming on and off.
Any ideas on how to make dash lights stay on.
Thx
There is a much easier way. Just go to the dealership and have them activate the daytime running lights that are there for Canadian trucks. I had the dealership do this on my first service visit. They don't come on until the truck is in gear, but work great!

I recently added the ambient light sensor and auto headlight switch to my 2011 F250. I took it to the dealer to get the truck to use the sensor. Result, headlights now work properly in the auto switch position but now my dash lights only come on when the sensor turns on the headlights. This happens in all headlight switch positions except "Off". From your experience, is this how the dash lights are supposed to work?
Be prepared to check your head lights during the day because they will burn out faster if you use them all the time. The usual daytime running lights uses secondary lighting instead of the head lights in most cars so that they don't burn out as fast.
pa_mike, thats my question, how to keep dash lights on all the time. ?????
None of my biz,but why would you want your dash lights/park lights on all the time.As far as I know the dash lights are wired to the park lights,so if you want them on so are the park lights.
The truck is equiped to have daytime running lights, but they are only activated for Canadian bound trucks at the factory. It is a simple program change at the dealer. Mine did it no cost to me. I will deal with the bulbs buring out early if they do. It is worth it for the saftey of having the lights on to keep others aware. I always drive with my headlights on in my other trucks, so it is just nice having this setup to automatically do it. Just a personal preference thing. You do have to have it in gear for the daytime running lights to come on.

DRL uses 60% of the high beam side of the bulb, the bulbs dont burn out faster, I've had my 1996 Explorer all its life & I've NEVER replaced a head light bulb.......just my .02

Go to your dealer & have them turned on.......
I still don't know why someone would want park lights on all the time. Unless these new trucks are different, all my other vehicles with drl the headlights are the only thing on until its dark
I didnt say anything about just having park lights on.
I run with headlights on at all times, 24/7, I would like my dash lights to stay on at all times as well, just because it drives me crazy to see them come on and off.
And I'm ok with changing a headlight more often if it means someone see's me coming farther down the road.
And I really am not worried if the dash lights dont last as long, before any one chimes in on that......
