I just had the advance trac/stability control light come on, also the display says "service advance trac" when turning the truck on.
Is this something that I can do in a few days or should I not drive the truck? Currently 45 miles out in the desert on a construction site, so looks like I am driving it.
Also, read the manuel and tried to turn it off with the mykey system, well now the truck is all screwed up and chimes, wont drive over 80, and all my settings are lost.
Any commnets? Really getting old this truck and the constant services and check ups.
I had the same "Service AdvanceTrac" message a couple of weeks ago while driving in sand. Its a common problem that occurs when the AdvanceTrac gets confused with wheel slippage that happens when driving on loose gravel/sand/whatever. It went away the next day.

You're fine to drive it. AdvanceTrac is simply the electronic program that uses the ABS hardware and engine controls to help keep the truck under control during a skid. Think of it like an advanced application of ABS, there are no mechanical parts to the system other than the ABS pump.
The reason you are limited to 80 is because you activated your MyKey setting, which is only there to limit others, such as teenagers, who may be driving your truck from doing anything incredibly stupid. You can prohibit them from turning AdvanceTrac off with a MyKey, but this has nothing to do with turning the system off. When the "Service AdvanceTrac" light is on the system is deactivated automatically, just like your ABS is deactivated when the ABS light is on. So you can turn off MyKey with your other admin key and not worry about your AdvanceTrac system.
Just remember that it won't be there to help you in an emergency maneuver and drive accordingly.
Just a thought, would disconnecting battery power restore the truck to factory settings? In fact, I think there is an option to default to factory settings in the menu somewhere. I might have to go look.
One further note to this end.....I sometimes get the service advance trac warning when driving on slick roads. My problem is that if it comes on in an upshift senario, it will lock into what ever gear it is in when the warning comes on.
Several times I have had it lock in 2nd or 3rd and it will not continue to upshift.
I can correct the problem by stopping and turning off the truck for a few minutes.
It's a shame that I cannot drive the truck in the winter without worrying about it shutting down from everyday winter road conditions.
