HELP! 2000 Ford E 350 7.3l swap into a 2000 F250 also with a blown 7.3?
Hello, I have recently recieved a free truck kind of like a "hand me down" from my grandfather, a 2000 F250 crew cab lariat 4x4 with the 7.3 powerstroke, but the motor is blown. I am only 16 years old (first car let alone truck) and I was looking for some help, I've come to contact with someone selling a 7.3L diesel motor out of a 2000 ford E350, its for a nice price since I am on a budget and cant afford a rebuild:P I wonder if this motor would fit into my F250 without any problems?? PLEASE HELP ASAP
IIRC I know the turbo is different from the E series vans, You will have to swap over your turbo, intake setup, and possibly the up pipes and exhaust manifolds. the E series at least the 99-02 1/2 did not get intercoolers. I am not sure about compatibly with the PCM but im sure there are tunes out there. The belt routing is also different so relocating alternators/ AC wiring might be a challenge. The swap can be done it will take time. Im sure someone else will chime in but thats what I know is different. I know in theory they are the "same motor" but the E series is a world of its own.
Just strip the "new motor down to bare bones an put everything you can from the old motor on it. Shouldnt be too big of a deal... but you will need seals.
If you decide to part out the bad motor let us know... we like engine guts...
Ill offer 200$ for your old injectors if they are ad or ac code.
But before you get that deep into it... how sure are you that the motor is done?
What are its symptoms? Could very well be something simple.
Thanks guys. The help was greatly appreciated. I luckily got my hands on another f250. This one was in better shape, traded the guy my beater and some cash for his 2002 crew cab lariat :P

I am available to assist, just let me know
It looks to me that the OP got a different truck so no motor swap for the grandfather's truck with the blown engine.
I also would like to know what was wrong with the grandfather's blown engine.
Ummmm reasons behind my grandfathers blown diagnostics. Grandfather had a 30ft sport yacht that you could live on. (Im guessing its heavy) he pulled that around with this truck he moved on to a bigger better truck..... gave his to me, I started it, thing barely started. It shot white smoke everywhere. Made weird noises, like a sputtering and kinda of faint knocking and popping sounds, took it to my buddy's shop, he opened it up. Apparently my Grandpa never even thought about fixing broken injectors He drove those things to dirt. The 3rd and I believe 4th or 5th(which ever is on the same side as 3) cylinders had a low reading of compression, my mechanic checked all the gaskets and other things leading to compression problems and didn't help. Most likely the cylinders or something literally melted from bad injectors? Told me that at my age and my budget its not worth fixing the motor. Told me to find a swap, a different truck or consider a rebuild ( out of my budget ;P lol) * BUT ITS ALRIGHT I TRADED THIS BEATER AND SOME CASH FOR A DIFFERENT TRUCK 2002 F250 CREW CAB LARIAT Gonna post some pics up soon after I fix a few minor things on the truck.
