Have a new F-350 Super Duty , XLT, REG CAB, 4x4, dually. The truck has 1200 miles on it. Since it was purchased it has had a loud noise when making turns like the rear end is locking up or binding. Very loud and noticeable. Regular turns around a corner while driving it's not noticeable. But if you make a sharp or semi sharp right or left turn or drive the truck in a circle it's loud as heck. Took it to the dealer and they said the new trucks have a "NEW" clutch package and the noise was heard but they have worked on 5/6 different trucks with the same noise and found nothing and are blaming it on Fords NEW clutch package in the rear end. The service manager even went as far as telling me he tore 2 different rear ends apart and found nothing and to bring it back around 3500 miles for the oil change and if it's still doing it they will look further into the problem. Has anyone else had this problem?
First your in the wrong forum for a 2012.
This board is 97 to 04 F150.
The dealer is correct for what you discribe.
The clutches are tight causing one wheel to sprag around a sharp turn.
We can have that same issue on these older trucks in the same way.
It's normal until they at least have some time to breakin.
1200 miles is usually not enough.
The fluid usually has additive added but not familuar with your new rear and what they use.
An additive allows some clutch slip. When the slip gets excassive you no longer have the benifit of limited slip but revert to that of an open rear.
I think your jumping on this way to early.
Good luck.
