I have a 1986 Ford F150 with a 5.0 liter Efi v8,C-6 Auto trans. and would like to make it a four wheel drive. I have found a 1988 Bronco complete with everything there and working. what I need to know is will this fit on my 86 F 150 as a bolt up or will I have to make major modifications?
The front crossmember is different for the 4WD along w/ a few other things....it IS possible to convert it, but it's not a driveway conversion...if you're good w/ cutting, welding and fabrication, it's a good project.
its all bolt up. search for threads containing this information. and yes it can be a driveway project. the bronco will work im pretty sure of it. its supposed to be pretty easy.
Yup, theres no welding or fabrication involved. There is a tech article on this site. Click the link on the right. It's really a pretty simple thing, just time consuming. I was going to do it but my truck was totalled before it happened.
I apologize to all for my mistake....For some reason, I was still thinking about the solid axle swap a friend and I were talking about earlier in the day. Yes, I agree. the TTB swap is all nuts and bolts. Good luck!
