Was wondering if the newer OBDII scanners or the CTS Devices can be used to recalibrate the speedo for different size tire's.
Do not have either device, yet, but spring will be getting new tires, I have a set of winter tires that are the stock size but want to get larger tires for summer. Going to dealer every spring n fall to adjust speedo will be a pain.
I've been wondering the same thing too... One thing i've noticed on my current truck is if i GPS my truck the speedo on the dash reads about 5mph fast. So if i were to go to a slightly bigger tire i could probly get away with not recalibrating it.
I've heard that dealers are NOT changing rpm (rotations per mile) on different tire size. Only if you have a COOL dealer...but might be out of luck.

This is odd. I should be able to get my speedometer calibrated as a general safety item. This is a standard practice after receiving a speeding ticket. While they may not do it for free, I can't understand why I can't just take it to a dyno and get it calibrated.
My dealer will recalibrate the speedo for free. They can only do up to a 35" tire. Some programmers will adjust this parameter also but since I'm new to diesels I am not sure what one will work.
I had mine done by my dealer.....but.....there are only a predetermined set of tire sizes avalible in the computer that can be chosen from and those only work with what gear ratio is installed in the truck. We picked the best size tire that worked diameter wise but the truck kept throwing the CEL because the size was outside of the allowed parameters for my truck......if we changed the ratio then it would have changed most everything from engine management to transmission shift points. We ended up picking the tallest tire "allowed" for my gear ratio and left it at that.
Sounds like one should give their their local dealer a call and see what their willing/able to do... I would think if your going to a slightly bigger tire over stock they probly would help you out...
Considering what we pay for these trucks I would hope they would help. I expect the best treatment from mine b/c I spent over $150,000 with them in less than 2 years.

I spent a small fortune the end of Aug with my local Ford Joint.
Each morning, on the way to work, I can stop and get a cup of coffee and hot Cimmion roll. Also, it seems to help getting known at the Ford Joint. Favors come a little easier.
I own a small business and it is real nice getting in on my schedual. Just wish they would get a loaner truck though it would have been real handy when I had my 6.2L.
