It would be a bit more accurate if you looked up the specs on your actual tires (including brand and design) and calculated the percentage difference. Tires are not always sized exactly to the numeric size.
gear ratios did not change. road did not change, pie (3.14) did not change. the speed difference is the ratios of the diameters of the tires. If old tire is 33 inches and new is 34 inches, you changed 1/33 or 3%. Thats 3 MPH in 100. When speedo says 100, you are really going 103 MPH.
