the top hose nipple on the air check valve has rusted off in the rubber hose, leaving the whole thing dis-connected from air injection pipe. this on 1987 302 engine, has sat for different owners including me so whenever i go to replace something i end up replacing parts that parts are connected to just to get back to good metal.
have figured i could just try to get the air check valve off and replace that, but am wondering if i should just replace the whole injection pipe at same time.
does anyone have experience with this, suggestion? i dont think there any problem with air injection pipe now, other than its 24 years old.

The hose is only connected to the engine with two bolts.. one on either head so it shouldn't be that hard to get off, and then you'll see if you can get the valve out of it or not... I suspect you won't but you never know.
thanks! that picture helps a lot. even the ford manual doesn't give much useful information or diagram on it. if the bolts on the air tube are not frozen, there's actually pretty easy access to them coming up from below.
