New too the site lookin for some tips

I believe i got the e4od there is a o/d button on my dash on the left of the colum. The truck how ever hasnt run in three yrs, there is a lift kit on it which was installed before i got the truck and is missing the lower half of my fan shroud. Having never worked with a lift before i neglected too realize my over heating problems were not a thermostat or water pump, but a lack of air flow thru the rad. How ever i am not sure how too fab up an adapter too get the air flow i need and i am missing half the shroud, which is easy enough too find any advice on the adapter for the shroud

^ what he said, anyway, the E4OD has Overdrive, so your highway economy should be acceptable. If you manage to make it run again, drain and replace all the fluids with new ones before trying, and check the belt and hoses for damage/wear.

I realize that people like to freak out about fuel mileage these days buying one tons and complaining that it uses more gas than their Prius but geez, at least get the thing running first!

thank you all for letting me realize i need the truck running i had it running it was a pig on gas i dont expect too get 40 mpg its a truck and four wheel drive. But when its minus forty i would like too try and get what i can out of it, at $1.30 a litre some fuel milage would be nice. the fact that it over heats constantly is my more pressing issue, i would like too get some ideas on how too adapt the fan shroud with the four inch body lift as i have never worked with one before if no one here can help me guess i joined the wrong forum i got lots of smart asses around as it is i am looking for help!

Haha, good luck getting help with an attitude like that. Sounds to me like you just need to built a couple of brackets/plates to extend the shroud?.. I guess your question is very vague and I'm not really sure what you're talking about, and when you leave statements like your last one I'm not going to crawl under mine to get an idea..

its getting frustrating when every person i ask that is supposed too have the answers or know what they are talking about shrugs there shoulders. the truck has a four inch body lift the top shroud is attatched to the rad. i am completly missing the lower half i have a local wrecker tracking one down for me. i would like too know what pieces i need and how i should atempt to install the said adapter for the shroud. or if it would be easier too just buy a different lift so i can do it properly with all the pieces that come included as oppose too rigging something up too work sorry for being testy but patience is wearing very thin with this truck

Not trying to be an a$$ but that is JUST one problem with a body lift.. The others are too numerous to list!!!!
I don't like electric fans as a rule but this might be one place they would work.
If you are overheating at any speed over 25 mph or so a shroud won't cure the problem.. The only time a fan is needed is when you are going SLOW or sitting still...

I have never been a fan of body lifts. The issues you are having is the exact reason why. You need to fabricate a better fan shroud, just like you have concluded.
At the very least the shroud needs to completely surround the fan even if it means the upper portion of the radiator remains exposed. Alternatively you could install an electric fan. One from a Ford Taurus is popular.

If I'm understanding you correctly, You need to drop the bottom half of the shroud downwards approximately 4" to compensate for the body lift? In that case, make yourself some 6" strips of plexi-glass and use them as drop brackets for the shroud. Drill a hole in the top and bottom so you can connect it with bolts/nuts. Good to go

okay but that is where i am stumped. i had it at two seperate shops which found that it was staying cool at idle inside the shop. when the truck was placed outside and sat not running for a couple hrs in winter(which where i am from it gets down too minus 40 celcius regularly) when it was started outside than it only over heated while under load. i have a hunch i may have a fussy water pump but have heard they are tricky too change and should be avoided if possible
