Fuel High Pressure Gage

I am looking for any information that i can install high pressure fuel gauge to monitor the fuel system for reduction in pressure, where to install the pressure transmitter, and what is the fuel pressure should be normal & minimum range on the 6.7 engine? Thanks, Emel

My Dash Daq from Spartan monitors the high pressure fuel rail. I don't know if you could find a gauge that reads 30,000 psi or not.

I have seen from 3000ish psi up to 29,000 something it just depends on how you are driving. Once up to 55-60 mph it seems to average around the 10-13,000 psi range.

Hope this helps some

Fuel pressure gauge

I installed a stewart warner mechanical pressure gauge, tapped into the line coming out of fuel filter going to the high pressure pump-- 0 to 100 psi gauge to make sure filters were not holding pressure down. My pressure runs about 75psi.. Mounted gauge in the cab. Also mounted oil pressure mechanical gauge in cab and exhaust temperature gauge

H&S Black Maxx is the same.
I would not tap into the HP side.......Ford already has something there to read pressure, just need to access it.

Thanks

Completely agree with Darren. Attempting to tap the high pressure side is risking a spectacular failure...29,000 PSI is a LOT of pressure. The only feasible way is to read the values from the OBDII port.

Any particular reason you want to monitor these?

The reason for monitoring is to see if your fuel rail is losing fuel/ pressure. Not a big deal while stock, but running tunes it is nice to see.

Some of the bigger hp tunes can drain the fuel rail as the factory lift pump may not keep up with flow sometimes. if that happens you lose performance etc.

Makes sense, thanks for the explanation!

What do I need to read the OBDII port on the dash? I like the pressure gauge out of the fuel filter. Two of the older diesels had engine problems, with low furl pressure.Being a A&P I like gauges to keep truck of things.I'm trying to set this truck up to pull my hanger trailer to the air shows around the country when I retire from Beech Aircraft. Thanks fellows for all the information and help that I found on this site..I Love this Truck! This may do it, I am not sure. You should definately check with them before buying, I am not sure exactly what you can see with it.
They may also have something truck specific????

I just ordered a CTS and it is supposed to be here Friday. I guess I will find out then if it reads rail pressure. I'm pretty sure I've seen others comment that it does.

Sorry Emel, it appears that the CTS does not display the fuel pressure you are looking for.

Thanks

I'm going to check into it for the 6.7, but I know Power Hungry Performance can write new PIDs for the previous diesels. I have seen Bill do this numerous times on other forums, but I have not seen it done for the 6.7 yet. This may just be because the CTS official 6.7 support just began recently.
