hydraulic psi gauge for fuel pressure?

will a gauge for hydraulic psi work if I am going to do the fpr shim. I just think that I need more fuel under wot, but I want to see what pressure I have before I start(at Idle). I don't think they make a specialized gauge for fuel do they?

Depends on the prussure range of the gauge. Most use a 0-100 psi. scale it gives more accuate reading say 1 or 2 psi. increments. Verses if it was a 0-500 psi gauge the increments are most likely 5 psi. increments. Which it could be off by 5 psi. reading. Hope this helps.

They do make fuel pressure guages, but any pressure guage will work with the correct pressure range

Due to instantaneous spikes or variations in the fuel system, it might be nice to have a "damped" gauge there.

I think the range is only 0-120 psi, what is a damped gauge? does it have fluid in it?

p.s. would an air pressure gauge work just fine?

Yes 0-120 will work and yes liquid filled caseing is whats normally used because of the pressure spikes. If your just testing and not leaving ti on for ever or just a short time anything will work.
