Hi there!
My motorhome, a 1987 Ford E350 econoline 351W 5.8L has a transmission that slips in reverse. Is there anything I can do to try and fix it myself ? I found another trany it's out of a Ford also but has an overdrive. Would that be suitable for my motorhome ? Hope to hear from someone soon. Thanks
the tranny with an overdrive doesnt sound like a C6. it sounds like an E4OD which wont work with out extensive wiring changes.
have you serviced your C6? how many miles on the tranny? luckily the C6 is probably the cheapest to have rebuilt and you can get a tuff well built unit for well under $1000.
Thanks for the reply. It only has 115500 miles on it but it was hit in the right front causing propably this problem. I'll take it off and have a look inside. Do you think that this is wise? Do you have any advise? Talk soon
the C6 is pretty simple tranny. hard to say if the impact caused your current tranny issues. the vacum modulator controls the shifting of the tranny so if there are any vacum leaks going to that device it could cause it to act up.
HI THERE! THANKS FOR THE REPLY. THE MODULATOR VALVE HAS BEEN CHANGED AND THE MOTOR IS RUNNING FINE NOW BUT THE TRANNY IS NOT RESPONDING I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO GET IT FIXED OR BUY ANOTHER ONE. I WAS THINKING OF TAKING IT OFF THE MOTORHOME AND TAKING A LOOK INSIDE. ANY ADVICE?
