Flip kit for 52 F-1?

I have been doing some searches online to see if there is a flip kit for the rear end of my truck. I dont have the money to bag it to lower it and I really want my truck lower than the leafs I have pulled out. I know that I was able to get one for the ranger I had but that truck is about 40 yrs newer. Looking at the back I would think that there could be some other option than bag it, chop it and so on. Maybe I'm wrong and I'm stuck with what I have but i'm too broke for 1000.00 rear suspension!

Thanks!

The TCI kit is nice but a little pricey for me. I went the inexpensive way to flip mine. When I was looking for some replacement rear springs for my 49 F-1, I found most all rear springs from cars and trucks were too long. However, I stumbled upon a set of early 90s Dodge Dakota D-50 springs and they were actually shorter than the F-1 springs so that's what I used. I like the Dodge truck springs although I have not yet driven it on the road. They are three leaf progressive springs. The trucks rides on two leaves and the third one is a heavy flat leaf that comes into play with loads. You get a soft ride plus load carrying capacity if you need it. I mounted the 10 bolt GM rear end from a 75 Malibu on top of the springs and the springs and hangers to the side of the frame rails with fabricated homade brackets and I did not have to C-notch the frame. I added a shock crossmember and used 55 F-1 rear shocks. I still have over three inches of travel in the rear suspension. I got the spring plates from Summit. If you find some D-50 springs in a salvage yard be sure to tell them you need the hangers and shackles or they will cut them with a torch. These springs dropped the rear about 4-5 inches.

I bought the TCI kit, but IIRC the leafs were a stock front leaf from a mid seventies 4wd dodge pick up. The stock F1 leafs a narrower than modern springs, so switching springs would also mean switching hangers. Sacramento vintage ford has a flip kit for $145. It's mainly u bolts and spring pads. Part # 7379.

Great information! The TCI kit you both mention is that the same kit as the sacramento kit 7379? Also @ GNW is the crossmember the same as what is at this link ?

Sacramento Vintage Ford

I hope the link works but is is also at the sacramento site. So if I understand this correct I need to find springs and shackles that are more narrow to accomadate the kit. correct?

This information is so helpful thanks a bunch!

It appears very similar but I made my own out of angle iron...
I used the stock D-50 hangers and shackles on mine.

It looks like that SVF flip kit is for flipping the axle on your stock springs. The TCI kit I used was a complete rear suspension kit. New leafs, hangers, crossmember w/ shocks, etc.

I think I got it now!

It lists for 569.00 or so but it looks like everything stated!

Thanks!
