Universal NAPA muffler vs. 1951 F5 V8

Had a replacement Ford muffler from Dennis Carpenter. Was basically a straight pipe and made the truck unbearable to ride in. Got a new universal muffler today from NAPA and installed it along with a 5 ft tailpipe with down turn. Quited the truck down, so I drove it a mile without issue. When I stopped at stop sign it sounded funny like it was ready to quit and lacked power. Is this a muffler issue having too much or not enough back pressure? What do you use on your truck for mufflers that are the quiet type (not cherry bombs)?

I have the same mufflers on my truck. Idont have to much of a back pressure issue that I know of but the thing is that the mufflers resonate so much I can hear anything when I'm in the cab. I hope to be able to move them back farther away from the cab to fix this.
