Pully Noise!!

Hey guys,
I own a 1993 f-150 302, i just changed the idler pully and the tensioner assembly!!! I still have a squeaking noise!!! When the truck is cold there is no noise but as it warms up it begins!! Any suggestions what pully it could be or a way i could narrow it down!? Thanks

It's not a perm. fix, but what I use is WD40 on the pulleys. Might not be the best, or recommended way, but it'll get rid of the squeaking noise fast.

wile the belt is off, spin each accessory by hand is see if there is excess resistance. maybe warm the truck up first, then take off the belt. That way you might hear which one is making the noise.

I was always told that WD-40 will "wash out" the bearings. But I sprayed my 460 idler down 25k ago and havent heard a thing since.

Wd40 is about the worst lubricant available.

WD40 is a cleaner, penetrant, displaces water, and is a light lubricant. It works well in light, low load applications such as a door hinge. It will clean out the old grease and grime and leave behind a bit of lubrication.

In a high load, high speed, or in a bearing with a lot of space in it, such as a roller bearing, it will not provide sufficient lubrication. It will clean the old grease and grime out, and promote premature wear. It does not have the viscosity of a true lubricant made for these conditions.

You can clean them out with WD40, but I would use white lithium spray to lubricate if you're wanting to use a spray lubricant.
