92 f150 4.9 ignition coil mystery wire

so yesterday after checking all of the fluids in my truck i noticed that the was a single wire coming from the plug of my ignition coil that is suposed to run to a little cylinder on the side of the coil that is broken off. i dont know what that cylinder is and what it could be doing to my engine.

It's a noise supressor, the "little cylinder" is a condensor.

So is that even doing anything to my engine or is it just useless?

It eliminates/reduces static noise on the trucks radio, other than that it is useless.

It probably only comes into play on AM reception is my guess but I don't know that for sure.
