My 1995 ford f350 crew cab dually 7.3 manual trans needs a new clutch. What setup do I have? Solid or duel mass flywheel? And what size clutch? Good place to get an inexpensive good quality clutch? I don't normally tow over 5,000 lbs.
If original then it should be a Dual Mass Flywheel with a 121/4in clutch.
When replacing it you could do a Solid Mass Flywheel conversion, if you don`t mind the roll-over noise from the trans.
Inexpensive and good quality usually don`t go together. Maybe try caraloinaclutch.com for a Luk kit.
You could get a lot more advice on the Power Stroke page in the Diesel Section.
The DMF smoothes out the diesel idle and so by the time the motion gets to the trans it is even.
The SMF transfers all the diesel idle to the trans and so the motion is uneven causing a noise due to the fluctions in the rotation of the shafts.
