Recently saw this in a Truck Mag, for those like me who is confused on WHICH column to buy out of a junk yard, and like me have a manual steering box now, but in the future want to go to PS, this is the choice.
Their column steering shaft is ADJUSTABLE, so in my case I can put it in now with my manual steering and when I change over to PS just adjust the shaft.
It doesn't have the ugly loop UNDER the column bracket as the factory, and it WILL accept the factory steering wheel and has factory wiring plug, has tilt also. This one ONLY is for those with a FLOOR shifter. Has anyone already purchased this, I am in the process.
Note: Please note that the Bendix box was frequently interchanged with the Saginaw box as a replacement. This will require a different length column.
So I would not assume that the column will work with a manual steer and a power steer box. They do make the same steering column for 1967-1972 and 1973-1977 Ford trucks. I would guess that since most people say to get the power steering from a 1973-1977 donor truck, I would get a power steering box and a steering column for a 1973-1977 truck. What I don't know is if a 1961-1970 steering wheel will mount to the 1973-1977 column.
I assumed the same as you about that comment, BUT if you click on the FORD STYLE INSTALLATION instructions link it will clarify that this column IS ADJUSTABLE, I have already exchanged emails with one of their tech folks to verify this, I assumed that as you that the comment about different lengths needed meant you would have to KNOW which length, this is not the case the Ford Style column shaft is adjustable so it WILL / CAN fit ALL.
I'm glad you brought this up because my first glance at their site without going further I got the same impression. ididit inc - 1965-66 Ford Truck Steering Column Made To Fit
I have done this more than once. The power gear has fluid lines at the top and requires a shaft a little over 2in shorter. I swapped the downer column when I swapped to save time. All bolt in.
