My current steering column is a a real mess and downright dangerous. Because of this, I need to replace the steering column in my 66 F100.
The previous owner converted it to power steering using a D7TC-3550-BA power steering box and a hacked 70"s steering column.
The steering column in there now is a 33" column. To get the steering wheel a little further away from me I am thinking of going with a 32" universal (tilt wheel) steering column.
Has anyone used a 32" universal column in a 4th generation f100? If so did you like it compared to the stock length column?
I did a Crown Vic front suspension swap on mine and went with a 28 inch column with tilt. I don't think you'll notice much difference with only 1" change. One thing I would advise is going with a quality brand column. Ididit, Flaming River, Etc. I made the mistake of going cheap and will be replacing mine in the not so distant future. I can feel that the tilt isn't as tight as it use to be.
