Just curious if everybody else's seems to be extremely sensitive? I can back out of my driveway (which is sloped, so the truck is nose up) and the rear park aid will start beeping even though nothing is behind me. And this morning, I was backing into a parking spot at work...parking lot is flat, there were no wheel stops, nothing, and it would intermittantly beep at me. Is anybody else experiencing this? It is driving me nuts!
I have heard that ice can cause the sensors to beep even when not necessary. However, my truck is parked in the garage, and it's above freezing when going to work, so there shouldn't be any ice on the sensors. Maybe there's a little gremlin that jumps behind the truck to drive me crazy! LOL
My Edge's sensors see the sides of the garage door when I am backing out. These are not set to look only directly behind you. They have some peripheral field of view. They may be seeing the road since you are angled towards it. They may pick up the car you are parking beside at work.

Absolutely agree with these comments. I pick up the sides of the garage on the way out and the snowbanks on the side. I had a family member walk around the back and I think the "side" view of these can extend as much as 3 feet.
IF she were a horse, she would be getting blinders put on!
I think that's intentional... it's not meant strictly for telling you when you're about to back into a wall or fire hydrant. It's also meant to tell you when a child or animal is "rounding the corner" behind you. I can say with confidence that this "peripheral vision" prevented me from hitting a child once. I never saw them, but was just about to give it some throttle when the beep went off. within milliseconds, I saw them in my rear view camera... but had it not been for the beep, I would have backed out quicker and hit the kid. Wouldn't have been my fault... he ran from the passenger side of the van parked next to me and just darted directly behind my truck at exactly the wrong moment.
Anyway... perhaps natural selection should have taken place... but I'm glad I had the peripheral vision
Mine went on constant for about 3 days was ready to bring it back to dealer and all better now. I did wipe with thumb and didn't help but all better now and I still love this truck
While it is annoying, it's still a good safety feature. The peripheral vision on my truck seems a little more sensitive than my wife's caddy tho. I'm becoming pretty proficient at hittin the arrow and the Oky Doky.
