Wearing your sidearm with leather seats.

So this is my first truck with leather..all my other ones have had cloth. I always carry my trusty kimber 1911 on my right waist band....I noticed the first time I got in the truck with it on and went to the local 7-11 and got out and saw that the butt of the gun left an indention on the right seat bolster....So since then I have just been carrying it in the center console storage..and I have noticed I carry the gun less because I forget to put it back on. Do any of y'all deal with this?
Off note...what's up with that joke of a storage compartment in the center fold down seat? My 06 had a huge compartment....looks like the same amount of available room as before but now its all blocked off with more plastic.

Keep my S&W 325pd 45acp in the door pocket. Grab it on the way out.

Doesn't the seat bottom lift up for more storage as well (saw it in a pic somewhere here)?

the problem is you are lugging around way too much gun and what ends up happening is its not with you, the most important gun is the one you have WITH you. I wear tru-spec 24-7 cotton/poly blend pants, the cargo pockets have internal magazine pockets designed for AR mags, but its a perfect built in holster for a ruger LCP, I forget I even have the thing on me. no marks in the seat, I truely forget I even have it on.

There is a storage there also...its just a pain in the *** to fold the seat up and then lift up the seat bottom to get to it...as I always keep the center seat folded down and use it as an armrest.

When I used to carry my 5" xdm 40..that gun was way too big to carry..so I got the procarry 2...that gun is easy to carry...I don't have problems in my shelby..the vette or the ss camaro..just the truck...or maybe I just notice it more in the truck..idk.
But you have a GREAT carrying tactic!! Where do you get those pants at?? I like the way that sounds!!
BTW I agree with you....thats why I ALWAYS carry!!....even in the shower...(never know when the wife is gonna go ape **** on me..lol J/K)

I really don't think you are damaging the seat, just pushing in the leather is not any different than pushing in the cloth seat you used to have.

Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm compact rides my hip. Nice small weapon.

Wearing a sidearm on any seat will wreck havoc over time. Our squad car seats after two years look like shipping peanuts on the sides.

ok here is the link to the pants

24-7 Series® Men's Pants - Atlanco eCommerce

tru-spec makes stuff for kinda the tactical crowd, but these pants don't really come off as tactical, they look great with a nice shirt and don't give out a tactical look, I wear them everyday for my business and I have to look presentable and professional. my preferred color is coyote tan, its dark enough to look clean all the time but light enough to look good. also if you try some make darn sure you get the cotton/poly blend ones they also make a 100% cotton version, the cotton/poly will wash clean everytime, its way more stain resistant, it will not wrinkle, so no need to iron, and it will dry quickly and be breathable, I love mine, even though they are not camo I like to wear them hunting too, although they are not very warm.

the side cargo pocket I am serious its like made for an LCP, I have also carried a taurus TCP and the khar p380 all of those will fit in the internal mag pocket like it was made to be in there, I use the back on the right side, it has never came out. I have to work on carpets on my knees sometimes this involves some crawling around, other times I might be working in a vehicle, like installing a set of timbrens on my truck, the gun stays put and never is out of place.

I know the 380 is no 45 acp but buffalo bore has some 100 grain hardcast loads that put out nearly 300#'s of energy which is very close to a 9mm. its a very potent CCW load.

Thats exactly what I figured would happen...I wonder if there is some kind of pad I can put there...probably not but I'm just trying to come up with a way to not have to take my gun off and not tear up my seats.
The more all you guys talk about having your smaller guns to carry makes me want to trade off my xdm 40 for something more compact. FYI I loved my xd9 and my buddies xdm 45 but I hate the xdm 40....thats the most unaccurate gun I have ever shot! I was sugical from 90 yards with my 9 and same goes with the 45 but the 40...sucks!

Man those are great!!! Im definately gonna get a pair of those and give em a shot!. I have not personally looked at the khar 380 but I have looked at the Khar 45 (little bity thing)...do you know if they are comparale in size where they would fit in those pants?

I don't know if the khar 45 would work but you could always get a pair of pants and try it out in the store, the kahr 380 is a pretty nice gun and it carried well in my pants but that extra 2oz of extra weight over my LCP was the difference between knowing it was there sometimes and totally forgetting about the LCP. the LCP is a simpler gun with less to go wrong so that is why I sold the other 2 380's off. plus its a tad lighter. the nicest 380 out there now is the sig, its like a mini 1911 you autta like that. my thinking is go really really light with your handgun or just go full size, those are the only types of handguns I own, fly weight or full size, the full size all steel CZ stays and in the truck and gets used at the range, the LCP gets carried.

I carry my Colt Officer 1911 .45 in a UBG striker IWB holster every day. I had leather in my 08 F250 which I drove for 3 yrs, and presently in my new 2011 F250 larriat. I'm a big dude 280lbs and the butt never touches the seat.

See I'm no where close to that big...Im only 5"11 at a whopping 170 lbs..so my gun is quite a bit closer to the seat.
Cowlick this is a hilarious ad..."the ugliest most comfortable holster you'll ever love"!!!! LMAO!!
Im liking the smaller gun ideas that are floating around in here
