What do you guys with the 5th wheel prep think of it so far? Were you able to use your old hitch or did you buy a new one? How much did the new one cost you if you went with it?

I saw two trucks on the lot with the prep. Good enough for me to order a new truck with the prep and by the time it is delivered I will have decided on a hitch for it.
Right now I am leaning towards one of the air ride hitches.
Maybe I am not understanding but I thought the factory prep was for the factory hitch setup. I know that Reese makes the factory hitch and one of their top of the line Reese hitch will work as well. I have a B&W Companion setup on mine and I am very satisfied.

The factory prep is just the under bed frame mount, that just happens to be the Reese signature design and has the added bonus of being a goose neck mount.
There are several aftermarket companies that offer adapters for the Reese mount
I didn't order mine with the prep, but I got the reese elite aftermarket which is the same thing. Love it. I even like it better than the B&W gooseneck and companion. The companion is such a pain to put in and take out every time after using the elite series fifth wheel.
I went with the reese underbed even though it cost $600 more out of pocket and I am glad I did. After $52000 on a truck, why not?
I got the Ford factory hitch. It is the Reese Elite hitch. The Signature hitch will work with an adapter. My opinion of the Elite hitch is that it is a piece of junk. There is 1/8 inch play in the front to back movement. This is not in the jaws that clamp the pin but in the hitch itself. The bar that allows it to tilt side to side has the play in it, can't be adjusted. This hitch is a very poor design, not near as good, or as strong in my opinion, as my old Classic 18 K.
so far I'm satisfied with my Curt 16k hitch. no dealer prep, but the hitch with underbed rails, etc plus installation was only $705 (before tax). I like the *idea* of the factory hitch prep... but not sure if it would have been cost effective or any higher quality
seriously though... 4 pins hold the support to the bed rails. 2 pins hold the hitch itself to the support (my hitch terminology needs work). It takes all of a couple minutes to un-pin. I am left with the rails, though
I passed on the dealer prep and installed a 16K Pullrite SuperGlide on my 2011 6.7L F250 CC FX4. I went with the Pullrite SuperBrackets and SuperRails to make removing the hitch, well easy. For me it was important to have the hitch out of the bed whenever possible and the SuperRails make that happen. A hoist from Harbor Freight (440 lbs ($90) or 880 lbs ($110) capacity) along with a couple their nylon straps is great way to lift the hitch out of the bed. Nice thing is I can do it safely by myself. I pull a 36' Keystone Raptor toyhauler and could not be happier with my truck doing so. I hope this info is useful to another enthusiast out there!
I have the Ford prep, and reese elite hitch.Hitch is overpriced but am happy w/performance,does not have excesssive play. Can take in/out in a couple of minutes also use 2 small padlocks in latch.

Have you ever checked the pin weight with the trailer empty on a certified scale? I'm looking at a similar configuration and am interested to hear how much you have over the axles with this hauler. Also, what does the trailer weigh empty (just the trailer) Thanks much!
I ordered a shortbed and, at the time, you couldn't get factory underbed rails from the factory. I installed them afterward. You have to use the Reese signature hitch with the OEM style rails. I wanted to keep the OEM look. Other companies make underbed rails that work so you have options.
As mentioned above, I ordered my new truck with the prep. So that means - if anyone is interested, I have a Pull Rite 18K Super Glide with the super rails for sale .................. just needs you specific chassis brackets.
For those of you with a short bed, the Super Glide is about the best hitch out there that slides. That fact that it “auto slides” means you never have to get out of the truck to use that feature.
It is a bit heavy, and I also use a winch, (Northern Tool) attached to a frame I made for my garage ceiling. Although it won’t get much use with the new truck, since I’ll never get that in the garage!
For those of you using a Super Glide – the best pricing I found for the Slip Plate lube is SLIP Plate® Less then $60 for a case of 6 delivered.

Welcome NStorm, I'm a newbie here also.
No, I have not weighed the truck, trailer or the combo yet, although I would like to. I did quite a bit of research before buying the truck and fifth wheel. Keystone rates the hitch or pin weight at 2390 lbs while the empty trailer weight is 11,246 lbs. I used these as guidelines only and expected more weight. It's a sweet ride with or without the 5'er but hitched up the bed drops about three inches. As a matter of preference to bring the bed back to level I installed Firestone Ride Rite air bags (#2535). TruckAddon.com had a great price at $235 shipped. Anyway, we'll test the whole thing out in couple day with a trip to Death Valley.
