I have a 1997 Ford F 700 with 460 Fuel Injection. It has no spark. The distributor looks like the one used with TFI module. Is the TFI used with Fuel Ijection? If so do you have any idea where the module is? Thanks,
Mike
I am not that familiar with the medium and heavy duty trucks but on pickups the tfi is usually located directly on the distributor or built into the ignition box. you will need a tamper proof torx bit to remove it.
There is no such thing as a 460 in a big F series. I would be a 429.
You think Ryder would go 429 on rentals? High probability it's a 370....
OP should post the VIN.
Also, do the standard trace --find something hot, and keep following the trail till you find the break. Juice to the module, juice to the coil, juice to the ignition switch?

Welcome to FTE
Two different ignition modules are listed for your application.
Both, according to the parts catalog are located on the left fender inner apron. The non TFI module is a (silver) rectangular box.
There were no 460 engines installed in anything larger than an F350. If there are 7 valve cover bolt holes per side, it's either a 370, or it's larger brother, the 429. Both look identical to a 460.
Post the VIN found on the Certification Label, or off the registration. Or if you want to keep it private, post just the 8th digit of the VIN which is the engine code.
Thanks for the responses. You all are right, it is a 429. I finally found a Ford service manual for it. It turns out the ignition module is mounted in a recess in the firewall. It bolts to a cover at the top of the firewall under the A/C line and only the connector is visible from the engine side. I feel better now that I found it, I beginning to think I was going blind.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
