Reproduction body panel quality?
Need a new driver side door, and hood and fenders are probably more work than it's owrth to reuse original wen I can get aftermarket. One fender only needs two small patches and a small dent repaired, but if aftermarket quality is decent I'll just replace it. What brands are good quality? Where should I order from (was looking at LMS and a few others)? Shipping seems to be the killer.on price.
How is the thickness of the panels? Do they bend if you lean on them? How is fit and finish? Should I expect a real aggravation or just shimming and alignment? Any input is welcome as I'd like to order this stuff soon. If I have a bunch of big pieces sitting in the garage it'll put a fire under my behind to get this thing done before winter.
A guy I work with said he was disappointed the way Ford mounted the door panel to his 94 f350. He said where he pulled on the door to close it, the metal behind it cracked, and they should have done something different. Looking at his truck, you could tell it had slightly different colors on it, and I said has this trucked been wrecked before you go it? He said yes. I asked him if the inside of the door where he fixed it was black? He said he thought it was. I told him he probably didn't have a Ford door, but a reproduction door, and that's probably why it tore the metal where the door panel mounted.
Some of the guys on here have been very disappointed in the reproduction tailgates. They lead a hard life anyway, and the thinner reproduction ones don't last at all.
