Welding on frame??

Welding on frame??
Going to do some welding on frame attaching brush guard.Just some spot welds to help hold it to the bumper bracket. Seems like I read I need to disconnect the batt.s before welding is this correct?? Something about protecting the computers..Can't find the info now. Does anybody know? I really hate to go thru all the relearn process for the turbo, and resetting the radio, clock etc..............But if I have too I will...

Having welded on various vehicles with computer controlled engines/transmissions/etc., here's what I would do.
At the very least, disconnect the batteries and put the ground clamp from your welder RIGHT NEXT to where you will be welding.
Some people like to take it a step further and also disconnect the computer(s) too.
I've done it both ways and have had good luck so far. Knock on wood.
