Well im still in limbo about my injector issue. The rebuilt ones seem on the ball but how well would some super duty injectors like ad or ae work in my 97 cali ed. i know that the ae and af have longer nozzles to stop the "cackle" but thats lame. (I like loud) I also know that i will need a hpop no matter what option i choose, so i choose the adrenaline for stage one injectors. and would it be possible to run a super duty engine calibration on my truck or will i have to replace a few parts? thanks for reading this long winded question.
If your looking to run split shot SD injectors, you will need to tune your truck for splits. And ya, you will want to upgrade your oil. Adrenaline is a good choice. But a cheaper but equally effective choice is to get a 17* pump and have Joey @ Terminator mod it for you.
I think the Cali model came with split shots or your rebuilt injectors stock or stageI's cause stageI's are 160cc and the super duty are only 120cc IIRC the cali model came with 120cc too
calis are 120, SD's are 140. Woops, I misread your first post. You already have splits. So you could just throw in the SD injectors and run them. You will gain 20cc worth of fuel.
Thanks James i new it was something like that i just don't know if 20cc of fuel is worth the work of injector swap unless the SD injectors were free just my .02

well the stockers i got are coming up on 250k and im just sourcing for ideas. anyhoo how would the swap to SD injectors be that bad? if they are the same body and just flow more fuel, im not looking for massive power, just to handle a econo and tow tune from dp tuner.
If the SD ones are newer with way way lower miles, All were sayin is the work of changing out the injectors for the gain of basically 10cc of fuel is hardly worth it (yours flow closer to 130cc) unless your injectors are in bad shape. If it were me. I would switch to stage 1 single shots. But thats my preference and i know it costs more.
If you can get the injectors for dirt cheap or free then go for it but if not then i would sen your to Jim and have them built to stageI's cause you could have your built for the same price of used SD injectors or cheaper
thats what i did,and the best way to go. jim can spot if anything eles is wrong or needing to be replaced that a first timer would overlook. plus a warrenty
I see AB's typically flow around 135 cc, AD around 140 - 150 cc.
If you find a good set of low miles AD it might work out well for you.
Almost all of the AB injectors I work on need new Plunger & Barrels. They, along with the AA/AO, did not come with Tungsten coated Plunger & Barrels and are almost always trashed by now. AD did come with the coating and I rarely ever need to replace them.
An affordable alternative we've been doing is swapping your AB Pistons and P&B's for good used AD parts which I am swimming in. A lot cheaper than buying new P&B's, and they run fine on your tuning (I'm told).
BUT you will for sure need to upgrade your HPOP as your 15° won't cut it.
BUT #2, if you need new P&B's, for the same cost as AB parts, you can go with AA P&B's and convert to single shot. These will get you more fuel flow (135 for AB vs 160 for Single Shots) and use less HPOil. You'd still need a larger HPOP, like a Super Duy 17° pump would be perfect, but they are just a better all around more efficient injector.
You would also need custom conversion tuning to run the Single Shot, though.
Hope this helps.
