The Rattle

I have a 1998 f150 SC 4x4, 5.4L with 183k. This truck has been rock solid. I now use it to hunt so it is not driven daily year round. In the last 12 months I have noticed a 'rattle'. There is not a pattern to it. When I hear it is when I have come to a stop with the brake on and still in 'D'. I also hear it some of the time when I go from P to D and have the brake applied. The motor sounds normal and the transmission shifts normal. It only makes this sound from time to time and only lasts 1-2 seconds. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks

Try a rubber mallet on all of the heat shields around the exhaust. 10 years or so, the fasteners start to rot away. You can't usually just look and see the problem.
