This is a few and far between problem. The reports are so scattered through the models and years it is hard to say whaqt to look out for. My '99 (5/98 build) has 72k+ has been running great and I would buy another in a minute.
Check EBAY I just saw a set of heads on there for sale.
Why on earth would anyone replace a head when you don't have to...Even if you took the time to do all 8 or 10 you would still be thousands ahead of the game.
Am I missing something here??
over 43,000 miles and still going strong. hope not to join the blown plug club(bpc) in the future. might go put a socket on the plugs, to make sure there all nice and tight. just like i like my women.... lol
Does anybody know the correct Torque spec. for the 99 V10
spark plugs?
I cranked them down pretty good with a 3/8 drive ratchet.
After reading all the blown spark plug threads maybe I should
put a torque wrench on them?
Sorry; If the spec has already been posted, did not do a search.
I did mine at 120 lbs in ..You should always torque these plugs thats half the problem. Too tight and the threads come out too loose and the plugs come out...
wow that sucks! I am not looking forward to that. mine is a 2000 with a 2001 325hp motor in it. It may be that new head design or it my be a matter of time. Dont ask, long story, if your good maybe I'll tell it to you one day.
I too had my 99 V10 blow out the same sparkplug the second time. I have tried every way I know to get someone at Ford to answer me besides the twit at "customer service." to no avail. I have since sold my ford and bought a 03 Dodge Ram with the new Cummins diesel. Had never owned anything but fords till now, will never own another one.
Oh come on you cant let one thing give you a bad taste in your mouth. Im sure you will find something on that Dodge that will really **** you off one day and find out others with the same problem. No car manufacturer is perfect, some just hide it better with fewer customers (Dodge) ha ha. No for real though I will always love my Ford.
Even if I walked in on my truck doing something to my girlfriend I'd still love it!
