I requested a kit from Blackstone but I have not received it yet from them. I'm planning on change my oil/filter tomorrow and would like to save some for the test kit.
I've got a small baby food jar that has been cleaned, will this be enough or should I find something bigger?
Also do I catch the oil from the pan or the filter?
That should be enough. The test sample bottle they send is pretty small. Just make sure you heat the oil up by driving it around, and take it mid stream when draining to make sure you don't get the stuff in the bottom of the pan.
You don't have to drain it hot, just warm. The idea about heating the oil up to temp is it will remove any moisture or fuel that may be in there from the last cool down. You can let it cool for a bit after you drive it. I usually wait a half hour or so.
