PROBLEM

Okay, I have a pretty big problem that we cant seem to figure out. When I have everything hooked up, except the wire that goes to the cylinoid to the battery, everything is fine. As soon as I touch the battery wire to the cylinoid, it starts sparking like crazy and the starter kicks in. I just put a brand new cylinoid and starter in last night and it still does the same thing. I did that because i didnt know if there mite be a short in the cylinoid and I changed the starter cuz I didnt know if maybe the starter got stuck open. My next step is to rewire the whole truck if I cant figure this out. Let me know if anyone knows what is causing this. Thanks!

Best regaurds,
Chris,

Remove the small red wire with the blue stripe from the small "S" terminal on the Starter Solenoid. Then connect your battery cable. That is the wire from the ignition switch that activates the Solenoid. If nothing happens and the starter doesn't turn over then the starter and solenoid are OK. The small red/blue stripe wire from the switch must have a constant 12v on it. It should only have 12v when the switch is in the "Start" position.

Okay, Thanks! I figured it all out last night. My starter wire that runs from my starter to my sylinoid, it melted on the header so it was shorting out and my sylinoid was in a coma...we had to jump my sylinoid and then it was all fine. Thanks for the help!
