ok i do tree removal in the summer but for the first time ever i need to find something to do in the winter for work.

i was thinking about putting an add in the paper, do to "painting" non commercial just households, maybe asking 20-25 bucks an hour.

i "could" do snowplowing but then you have to pray for snow.

what do you all think? should i give this a try? ive never done much painting but i have a friend who is a professional painter, i have to talk to him also. thanks everyone

Thats why I have contracts, all my residential customers have already paid in full, my businesses pay monthly, weather it snows or not.

Kind of like an insurance policy. Now I can pray it doesn't snow!!!

Winter is a good time for tree triming. Utility companies only trim the right of way primary lines. Homeowners have to do the rest. Good luck.

Randum thots:

Light hauling.

Find a place to cut wood for free, and sell fire wood.

Delivery driver (especially for parts stores- good way to get discounts).

Part time it as an interior painter (that way someone else has the paperwork hassles).

Emergency tree service (fallen limbs, etc)

It all depends, what do you WANT to do?

I live in Bucks County,Pennsylvania. Around here, it is difficult to get reliable and quality painters. My Mom needed her interior house walls painted and had terrible experiences with two no-class, so-called professional painters. Also, there are alot of Russian, polish or other non-american types painting around here. If you get into painting try to find out what your local market has for painters. If you can do a better job then the rest for a fair price then go for it. My biggest complaint from any contractors doing work for me is... not showing up when supposed to be working.
I knew some painters that made good money year -round. They took long Vacations and had nice cars. GOOD LUCK
