I've been lurking for a couple of months and have learned a lot - Thanks.
First, a question:
I need to get an owners manual - is there a decent place on the web?
Or should I try the local Ford Dealer?
My '05 PSD 2wd EB w/99k
I drove 5 different '05 PSD (at 3 different places in Central FL)
and only "mine" drive correctly: no wander and smooth throttle response.
I "thought" the '05 PSD Lim w/61k would be "the" vehicle - wrong.
Hard use, lots of interior wear and tear, and still being "prepped"
after 2 weeks in their shop and unable to drive it.
I visited my local Ford dealer and had to buy 2 remotes and a 2nd key
- and while I was there had them look up the keypad code
I figure for peace of mind, I'll be changing the fluids and serpentine belt
in a couple weeks when I have the 100k service done.
I plan to install a coolant filter.
I'm gonna borrow a co-workers "ultra-guage" for a week or so to check out how it works with my Ex before I buy one myself. I want to monitor temps before any service is done so I can benchmark values.
I'm thankful for all the advice and info everyone shares
Mostly on the emotional level, I was intrigued by the PSD. Getting better fuel mileage also helps, and over the life of this vehicle the fuel savings will partially offset the purchase price - barring a costly diesel repair.
I realize higher repair costs, but I did go with a 3yr/43K mileage extended warranty since I know 0 about
the PO(s).
