First Mods !
hey guys, i'm new to this website, so just wanted to say hi. Well, now to the subject. I have a '96 f150, 5.0, and of course, i want to mod it since its not the fastest thing, but she sure is pretty. so i wanted to know what i can do to speed it up a little. and I'm on a budget, since i'm just 16. i do know about trucks and what not. but i'm not sure what to do to it first. what kinds of mods are the cheapest ?

Yes you can still use the 300 I6 tube or 460 tube. Like I said you should search for more info.

First thing you should do is post the complete specs on your truck, we know it's a '96 5.0 but what is the gear ratio and transmission(Hint: see the codes on the drivers door pillar), what size tires do you have, is a 2wd or 4wd and reg or extended cab, and what do you use the truck for mainly. Also comment on your mechanical skills and what jobs you're willing or able to tackle.

I second the I6/460 tube from the air box to the radiator support.
Anything you can do to help the exhaust will be good. I recommend a straight through muffler like Magnaflow or Dynomax etc. Replacing the stock cats with a good high flow cat is also a good idea.
Depending on your tire size, regearing may help alot.
Do a good tune up, with fresh filters and fluids all around. You could do the 6 liter tune up. I'm not sure why they call it that. You don't have to use the exact same parts, but use comparable ones.

i would start with a set of long tube headers and 2.5in exhaust with an H or X pipe with a high flow cat (if you even want one) and a set of high flow mufflers
this can be really cheap or really expensive depending on how big fancy you want to go.
i have a set of summit racing welded mufflers and they sound amazing and are only like $20 a peice or something don't be fooled into thinking you need flowmasters or any of the other name brand mufflers they do the same thing and cost more money
if you think you'll be building the motor up later go one size bigger than what you think you need with your exhaust and headers so you don't have to buy them twice.
