Coolant Level?

I have a 2004 so no sticker but I know that the full level is now the min mark on the degas bottle, question is, is that with the motor running at normal operation temps or motor off after it's completely cooled down?

Motor off completely cooled is what I go by and have never had a problem.

Hot. Running or not doesn't matter.

BTW, mine has been running near the original full mark for several thousand miles now, because I inadvertently over filled it after my last flush. It has not puked a drop. I tend to think the whole overfilled thing was just a bandaide coverup when they first started having all these 6.0 issues. If your truck is in perfect condition, the coolant level will not be critical.

To clarify, your degas bottle has two marks. They were originally supposed to be FULL COLD (lower mark) and FULL HOT (upper mark).

Now, FULL HOT is the lower mark, and COLD should be somewhere below that point.

That's my understanding.

I used the min mark after flushing. Stays right about there all the time, a little lower when cold, but not much.

Like most others mines hovers around the MIN mark, on MIN hot and just below when cold.

The following was copied from Ford TSB 06-3-8 (Coolant Degas Bottle Overflow) which was released in Feb. 2006 and applies to the following vehicles

2003-2005 Excursion
2003-2006 F-Super Duty
2004-2006 E-Series

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <wontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->Prior to making any repairs verify the coolant level is not overfull. The level should be at the "MIN" line in the degas bottle at operating temperature. Overfilled coolant levels will cause coolant to vent from the degas bottle cap.
