Harsh ride question

Hello all, I am new here, first post. Great forum, lots of great info.

I just purchased a 99 F250 crew, long bed with the 7.3 diesel. I plan to use it to tow my travel trailer and a motorcycle in the bed. It's my first truck (other than my Honda Ridgeline which I don't think counts).

The truck has been lifted maybe 4" and one addl leaf added. New tires, stock size.

When driven unladen, it is really harsh, particularly on less than perfect roads. I know its a truck, but my wife has fibromyalgia,, and its too rough for her.

I have not yet tried it loaded with a 600 pound bike and the 5,000 lb trailer. Would this help any re: the ride, or make it worse?

Thanks

greg

Would lowering the truck help? Lower would certainly make loading the moto easier. Maybe remove the add'l leaf?

Loading a truck always makes it ride better. I would try it loaded before you start making changes to the truck (ie start cheap).

Taking it back to stock height would DEFINITELY help. The add-a-leaf is also adding to the misery, but it won't ride like your Ridgeline no matter what you do.

You're right though, the Ridgeline doesn't count...

Agreed. Honda Ridgeline isn't a truck.

Thanks for the responses, I was hoping to hear that lowering it back to stock would help, since it will help with loading the moto anyway.

The trouble with the Ridge is that is what she "thinks of" as a truck

I will try it loaded as well - good idea.
