IMO you should send your injectors in to Jim and have him go through them. I did mine with the DIY kit a few months ago with 170k on the injectors. Everything LOOKED good to me except a few broken nozzle springs, but when they were back together they didn't run right.
Send them to Jim, he went through them and said that I put them back together correctly but there were some worn parts, replaced them and now it runs better than new!

He knows what he's doing and will help you out however he can. Only took a week to ship them to him, rebuild, and ship back.

Our forum sponsor, Rosewood.

Its only 200 dollars more to send your injectors to jim, and you get a warranty.
Just have the pro do it, and be done with it and no headaches. =)

I didn't think about the warranty.... And for only $200 more I would rather have a pro do it... feel a lot better doing it that way...

Thanks for the info

You're welcome. Just going off of my experience. If I ever go to II's they'll be sent off to Jim to have him do them again.

yep, good idea. i sent mine in too to do stage 2s, and got tungsten plunger and barrels too, then flow testd i guess. it was worth a little extra cash to me to have them done right the first time and not be dicken around taking the truck back apart. i would also do the electric fuel first b4 you do the injectors so you have a real good fuel supply

After reading about Jim's service, I am kick my butt for not just sending my injectors to him when I had them out for o-rings.

Yeah it sounds like a good deal, all except for the part about not having a truck for 7-10 days. :P

anschutz1913, you sound alot like myself, as far as plans for your truck and stuff. As well as your experience with the 'ol E4OD. I, too, am in college studying mechanical engineering. I can't wait to get a real job and actually have some money to do some truck projects.
Good luck to you.

Thanks cowmilker,

You have a pretty nice rig yourself there Once I get a chance I'm going to get a pic of my OBS and put er up. For being as old as she is and the mileage... She isn't to bad shape.

I let Jim do mine. Its well worth the little extra money. He said its pretty common to have guys do them their self and end up with problems and causing more damage than it would have cost to have him do it. The little pins that are inside are a pain to line up if your not familiar with it (I learned first hand) He sent me a set than a sent my old ones back as a core. That way the truck wasn't down.

I would look into the adrenalin pump. A 17* will start to run out of oil even with 1s depending on the tunes. If you decide to go with 2s an intercooler, big oil and studs are pretty well a must and a turbo at some point down the line.

Personaly I love my 2s but with the bigger nozzles they are smokey trying to tow and have to be careful about EGT and who drives it so that they don't romp on it loaded and rip out the drive line

Thanks for the info on the HPOP. My idea was to just swap a 17* out of a SD into my truck. But from what you say not such a good idea. While doin the injectors summer I was going to go ahead and put the HPOP in too because I know the stock 15* wouldn't handle bigger injectors. I will look into the adrenaline. I heard about the stealth pump too...

If someone was going to be driving my truck and it was modded like yours I would probably just unhook the chip, only takes 15 min and well worth the time to keep a truck running. lol

The stealth is ALOT of money for the amount of oil you need with 2s. The adrenaline should keep up fine. I have yet to have an issue with mine. I have only heard of a few cases that it wouldn't keep up and that was with real wild tunes

Sounds good. I won't be getting WAY out there with tunes... probably looking to get to the 350-380 range or a little higher in the next couple years. Still want to keep her as reliable as I can because she will still be a DD.
