Now I'm REALLY cornfused!

After doing the egr delete, oil cooler c/o, and then replacing the FICM (Special thanks to Mark, Brickie, and Cheezit for input on t-shooting), I thought I had pretty much all the kinks worked out. Went for a test drive yesterday and heard a "chatter" from what seemed to be in the fuse panel area. Was thinking maybe a relay (PCM specifically since the FICM is from an '05). When I drove the truck home and backed into the driveway the "chatter" became VERY pronounced and I could even feel it in the accelerator pedal? Also heard it chatter a little under a medium acceleration. Looked in the bible and it shows the AP sensor and speaks of the potentiometers being out of sync, however when it happened it didn't give a CEL or DTC. I'm taking the truck in sometime this week to the dealership to have the FICM and PCM programmed together (truck is a little sluggish and has a U0305 code), Is it possible this could be a side effect from the EGR delete or FICM c/o?

It should be a U0306 if it's a FICM incompatibility code, which shouldn't make a difference as far as running goes. U0305 is a cruise control module incompatability code but doesn't list as being on a diesel. Do you still have the EGR valve in place? That could make a difference if you get the newest flash, although I'm not positive on that yet. Nothing you've done should affect the accelerator pedal since it's fly by wire. It may be that it's just going out or that the reflash will help it.

Are you sure the down pipe isn't hitting the fire wall? That would explain the accelerator vibration.

ok...checked the downpipe and that isn't budging. The "chatter" is an electrical chatter, like a relay or contactor that has an intermittent ground loss, basically causing the coil to jump in and out. Checked the relays last night as I was backing in but couldn't feel anything there. Whatever it is, it's definately under the dash in the cab. Also happens more frequently when I turn the steering wheel to the left. I'm thinking it's something to do with the cruise control. Will find out tomorrow when I have another set of feet and hands that can load the truck against the brakes while I breathe in their toe jam and try to isolate the issue.

A chattering relay will be hotter than the others. That may help you find it.
