I'm in the process of running the air lines in my shop and am using a 4 foot section of 1/2" rubber hose to connect the tank with the copper pipe on the wall. Pain in the butt trying to screw that thing together and then take apart to troubleshoot. I've seen plenty of the 1/4" quick disconnects at my local home improvement store but not 1/2". Where can I find such an animal and is it suitable to use this close to the source? Thanks for the help. Learning as I go.
1/2 pipe union.
Won't provide any restriction like a quick disconnect could (though the bigger ones probably don't have much). One end screws to the pipe on the wall, the other end screws to the hose. Then fit the two parts together and tighten the nut.
Probably cheaper than the quick disconnects too, and available all over.
That sounds like the solution to my problem. Disconnects were the only thing I was aware of but this addresses the real issue. Thanks.
No problem. Its what I did when I put air lines around my garage.
Also make sure you put some shut off valves in key places. Like right out of the tank and before you connect the hose. That way you can shut it off for maintenance work, and keep the tank pressure from dropping if you have small leaks in the lines.
